The Belt region of Orion as never seen by the naked eye
Posted by Greg Parker in Hyperstar and SXV-H9C, Sky 90 and SXVF-M25CHere is the second marathon processing session by Noel. This time it’s the Belt region of Orion. This image is mostly data from the Sky 90 and comprises RGB, H-alpha and H-beta taken over two frames. There’s also a 3-frame Hyperstar I image of the Horsehead nebula thrown in for good measure ![]()

Simply Stunning…
Keep up the fantastic work.
Glad you like the image George. I intend carrying on up to the point they are nailing down the lid!

Probably the nicest vista of this area I’ve ever seen.
Thanks for sharing!
Glad you like the image Tahir. As far as I’m concerned I think this is the best image the Parker/Carboni team have created so far. If I ever see clear skies this Winter, the idea is to get the other 5-frames necessary to add on the M42 region to the this Belt/Horsehead image. This would make a truly stunning high resolution image of the whole of central Orion (and a fantastic 24″ x 48″ poster).
