Meridian weather video from March 10th 2010

Simon Parkin presented the Meridian TV weather on March 10th around 6:30 p.m. and showed the beehive cluster image (Messier 44) taken just the night before from the New Forest Observatory Noel Carboni processed the data as usual to create the deep-sky work of art.

Meridian weather picture tonight – the Beehive cluster, M44 in Cancer.

Simon Parkin gave tonight’s Meridian Weather forecast and the introductory picture was the Beehive cluster (M44) in Cancer which is now in a great position for imaging. I recently took several hours data on this one using both 5 and 10-minute subs. Noel Carboni is processing the data. I shall put up a short video capture of the Meridian Weather forecast a bit later.

The satellite van is in sunny Brockenhurst right now and there’ll be a live broadcast from the New Forest Observatory tonight on the local Meridian News. We’re due to have a few days (and nights!) fine weather apparently, so I guess we’ll all be bleary eyed for work again on Monday Watch this space for more on tonight’s programme.

Well that went a lot smoother than I was expecting, these Meridian guys are very professional and make the whole thing appear very relaxed and easy (which it isn’t). Even Louey (our black Labrador) made a cameo appearance on the night

Well – I didn’t see anything about Star Vistas on Meridian News on either the 3rd or 4th December 2008 – sorry for the bad information given below. I have no idea when, or if, anything will be shown

Meridian TV at the New Forest Observatory.

Local independent TV broadcaster Meridian TV was filming at the New Forest Observatory on the evening of 2nd December 2008. Unfortunately they were still filming when that evening’s News was on and I think I missed my image of the Moon/Venus/Jupiter on the weather introductory picture

The image was taken on the Monday night [1st December] after a fast (but legal!) dash home to try and photograph the occultation of Venus by the Moon. I was too late for the occultation itself, but managed to get some nice shots of the Moon, Venus and Jupiter in the same frame. After half an hour or so it clouded over, just as well as I couldn’t feel my fingers by then – it was unbelievably cold that night.

A short article on the forthcoming large-format coffee-table book Star Vistas will be shown either tonight [3rd December] or tomorrow night [4th December] on Meridian News.

The Star Vistas radio programme was broadcast on Radio Solent on the morning of Friday 28th November 2008 - you can download this interview over the Internet.

Meridian TV will be at the New Forest Observatory this coming week to cover the Star Vistas story and to get up to date with the most recent developments at the observatory.

Hot news for today – I had a 10 minute radio interview with Julian Clegg on BBC Radio Solent this morning between 7.50-8.00am talking about our astrophotos.

The BBC want me back on the show when the book Making Beautiful Deep-Sky Images is published for a longer discussion – so that will be October this year.

Hopefully some of you out there caught the broadcast. If you missed it then, I believe, it is available on the BBC Radio Solent web site [not sure for how long]
