DS101: Fundamentals of Deep-Sky Imaging

This is a day long course for complete beginners wishing to understand the fundamentals of Deep-Sky imaging. 

During the day we will cover:

  • Choice of telescope
  • Choice of camera
  • Choice of mount
  • Polar alignment
  • Highly portable systems (AstroTrac)
  • The use of filters
  • Software options
  • Introductory image processing
  • Short focal length wide field imaging
  • Intermediate focal lengths for galaxy work
  • Tour of the observatory

It will all be covered in this workshop!

All attendees of this course will also receive a signed copy of Professor Greg Parker’s “Making Beautiful Deep-sky Images: Astrophotography with Affordable Equipment and Software”.  All attendees are also presented with a notebook and pen for note taking during the day.
