DS101: Fundamentals of Deep-Sky Imaging
This is a day long course for complete beginners wishing to understand the fundamentals of Deep-Sky imaging. The course begins at 10:00 a.m. and will finish at 4:00 p.m. Refreshments during the day, and a lunch are provided.
During the day we will cover:
- Choice of telescope
- Choice of camera
- Choice of mount
- Polar alignment
- Highly portable systems (AstroTrac + DSLR)
- The use of filters
- Software options – the digital darkroom
- Introductory image processing
- Short focal length wide field imaging
- Intermediate focal lengths for galaxy work
- Tour of the observatory
It will all be covered in this workshop!
All attendees of this course will also receive a signed copy of Professor Greg Parker’s “Making Beautiful Deep-sky Images: Astrophotography with Affordable Equipment and Software”. All attendees are also presented with a notebook and pen for note taking during the day. Cost is £125 + VAT at the current rate for this full-day course, price valid until December 31st 2012.
