Sword of Orion and NGC1999

I Haven’t posted any images recently even though there have been a couple of nice ones (due to laziness), but this one prompted me to get writing.

It’s that time of the year again when Orion is up there waiting to be imaged.  This represents over 10 hours of RGB (no H-alpha yet for those in the know), and probably about the same amount of image processing time from my collaborator Noel.

The image shows the Great Nebula in Orion (M42, M43), the Running Man nebula above it, and right at the bottom a nice little bright nebula NGC1999.

The field of view is 3.33 x 2.22 degrees, taken using a Sky 90 refractor at f#4.5 from True Technology Ltd., and an SXVF-M25C CCD camera from Opticstar.
