Just got back from 8 days on Tenerife attending the Starmus Festival – what an experience!! I will relate all the happenings over the next few weeks on this site – but here’s something to whet your appetites 🙂
Apart from Neil Armstrong and a number of Apollo astronauts attending – and Alexei Leonov and a number of Russian cosmonauts – there was a 2 and a half hour Tangerine Dream concert with a guest appearance by Brian May – possibly the most mega music event I have witnessed. I will bring you a blow by blow account with pictures exclusively on the New Forest Observatory web site 🙂

Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Claude Nicollier (Hubble repair astronaut), Jack Szostak, Richard Dawkins, Kip Thorne!, Bill Anders (Apollo 8), Jim Lovell (Apollo 13!!!), Charlie Duke (Apollo 16), Brian May, George Smoot, Alexi Leonov, Valentina Tereshkova, Tangerine Dream – I tell you – it was a completely mind-blowing week in Tenerife!!!
I was at the festival too. Absolutely gorgeous. But anyhow I must have missed Valentina Tereshkova. I know she was announced, but when was she there? Could only have been when I was on the TEIDE tour.

I don’t think Valentina Tereshkova made it in the end – at least I didn’t see her there at all – but like you I went on the Teide tour. I think many of the journalists were from Tenerife and they put things in the local magazines, not so much on the web it seems.
