Gamma Cass 4-framer – PTGui Pro
I just purchased a piece of stitching software – PTGui Pro – for putting together big mosaics (Gigapixel images) of terrestrial scenes. It did a pretty good job of a snow-scene this morning (although the blending wasn’t too good) so … Continue reading

The base rungs by which we ascend
I came across this print of M42 while looking through some old notes. Print you note – not data – the data has long gone. So why a print? Because when this first came out of the Hyperstar I and … Continue reading

Just a potboiler while Noel is on walkabout
I took a look at the star map to see if there were any nicely coloured pairs of stars in close proximity to one another. The “super Albireo” pair of Algol and Rho Persei stood out like a sore thumb, … Continue reading

First video diary entry for the new mini-WASP imaging array
Thought I would begin a video diary on the mini-WASP array project at this time even before the hole has been dug in the ground for the obligatory concrete block. As we are all aware – any new observatory project … Continue reading

Second Soul [IC1848] data set
Another clear Moonless sky tonight so I’m taking a second data set of the Soul nebula. I did intend imaging the comet – but as it wasn’t clearly visible through the finder scope I have decided not to bother with … Continue reading

Soul nebula
Nice clear Moonless night last night – up until midnight that is when in rolled the high cloud and imaging ended. Got just over 3 hours on the Soul nebula IC1848 in Cassiopeia. Looking at the data I probably need … Continue reading

The largest, highest resolution, deep-sky print to date
Noel has just processed our largest deep-sky dataset to-date (there is a larger one waiting to be finished). This is the Cocoon nebula with the associated huge dark nebulosity. The picture below shows a print I just made on the … Continue reading

First light with the Sky 90 back on board
Put the Sky 90 plus SXVF-M25C back on top of the C11, so once again my beautiful 11″ reflector has been relegated to the role of guide scope 🙁 Anyway – I was trying to get the Stock 2 region … Continue reading

Sky 90
I’ve just seen my comments on the IOM post below and strangely enough I have just put the Sky 90 back on the C11 for some wide field narrowband imaging. We’ll see if I can bag CTB1 this year 🙂

Done and dusted
Clear night last night – didn’t matter there was a blazing Moon up for setting up the Hyperstar III. Managed to get good collimation quite quickly and then went on to re-train the focuser as so much had moved since … Continue reading
