Polaris with the mini-WASP array

A clear Moonless night last night so I put the mini-WASP array on Polaris. A total of 36 x 5-minute subs gave the result below which I’m pretty pleased with.

13 Messier objects in one image

Last night I got the left hand frame in this Canon 200mm/M26C Trius 2-framer.  Bagged 13 Messier objects in one image with this one 🙂  The Virgo/Coma cluster of galaxies.  If the weather allows – I will go back and … Continue reading

Work in progress – the whole of the Virgo/Coma galaxy cluster

The first of 2-frames taken with the Canon 200mm lens and Starlight Xpress M26C Trius OSC CCD. Bit of a story to this one.  Had some strange streaks across the image which I thought had wrecked the whole imaging session. … Continue reading

Dyson Sphere around Polaris

Has anybody imaged the Polaris region recently?  Seems to have been a bit of mega-engineering going on out there courtesy of some highly advanced alien civilisation!

Rosette nebula desktop/screensaver

Here’s another very deep image that will make a stunning desktop/screensaver. This time it’s the Rosette nebula in Monoceros.  An RGB Hyperstar image with added H-alpha and OIII data 🙂

The Virgo/Coma galaxy cluster region with the Canon 200mm f#1.8 lens

The March 20th 2015 solar eclipse

Well – you can tell from the lack of pictures that I didn’t get any solar eclipse images as we were totally clouded out here in the New Forest.  I guess if I’d taken this job half seriously I would … Continue reading

Crescent Moon and Venus

Earlier in the evening, before imaging La Superba, I saw a stunning crescent Moon/Venus photo-opportunity in the West. Grabbed the Canon 5D MkII and a 50mm lens and started snapping away.

La Superba from 22/03/2015

I managed to get 4-hours worth of 10-minute subs on La Superba last night using the mini-WASP array.  I composited this with around another 4-hours of data from a Sky 90/M25C combo – so around 8-hours in total using 10-minutes … Continue reading

A bit of Solar imaging in preparation for Friday

Can actually see the Sun today – first time in 3 days!  So I got the Solar imaging rig out – TS80 refractor, Canon 5D MkII, Baader Solar film, and a 5x Powermate – and took a few shots.  The … Continue reading
